Stella was found by a small Cambodian rescue group, SAW, at only 2 1/2 months old. She was found dragging herself around in a Pagoda, begging for food from the local monks. Her back legs were covered in lesions and open wounds and had no ability to walk. This area being a known haven for dog meat traders, Stella was one of the lucky ones. SAW took her to their vet, where they discovered that her pelvis was crushed leaving them to believe someone had stepped on her. They built her a makeshift wheelchair, but without seeing an orthopedic surgeon her bones healed improperly, leaving her paralyzed. One of our advisory board members who lives in Cambodia, Donabelle Zuzarte, heard about Stella and contacted us to help. Having no orthopedic vets in the entire country and with no means to a wheelchair, we couldn't say no. Without having a facility of our own, we asked one of our friends, Zach Skow of Marley's Mutts, to foster Stella if we raised the money to fly her here. He said yes so we got started on raising the $2200 for the flight and $1300 for medical expenses. We achieved our goal thanks to all of our amazing supporters. Stella will be arriving at LAX on Aug. 22nd and we can't wait to meet her!!! Please watch Stella's story below.
