Supporting Unhoused Youth and Their Pets
May 2025
In partnership with Aviva Family & Children’s Services, WUFAW was honored to support the launch of their new Youth Drop-In Center in Hollywood — a vital safe space for unhoused youth ages 16–25. Open five days a week from 4–9pm, the center offers food, showers, laundry facilities, clothing, computer access, and mental health resources. Most importantly, youth are welcome to bring their pets — an often-overlooked lifeline of comfort and companionship for those living on the streets.
At our first event, WUFAW provided free pet vaccines, food, new leashes, harnesses, and collars. We also partnered with 88Pet Spa to offer on-site grooming at no cost. For many of these young people, their pets are their only source of unconditional love — and we believe in protecting that bond. Through compassionate care and nonjudgmental support, we hope to build lasting relationships and serve as a resource for both the youth and their animals.
